Morrison’s Power Equipment is seeking a candidate to fill a vacant counter position. The job opening is a full-time/year-round position.

We are a family-owned business that sells and services outdoor power equipment located in Plymouth, MA. 

Primary Responsibilities

The position is located at the front counter in our showroom, and the primary responsibility is to assist customers as they enter through the front door or answer the phone. Typically, this will be in three areas; 

  • Selling equipment - For example, someone walks in the front door looking at lawnmowers, and you may have to answer their questions, steer them in the direction of what would best fit their needs, fill out the appropriate paperwork, and take payment.
  • Looking up parts - Someone may need a part for a string trimmer, they may have a part number, or sometimes you will be required to look up the part in a part breakdown online and order it if we don’t stock it. 
  • Service help - A customer may call or walk in, stating their tractor won’t start. If possible, walk them through how to get it going. If not, set them up with an appointment and write a repair order to have one of our mechanics repair it for them.

Additional responsibilities include driving equipment in and out of the building, washing equipment, cleaning, stocking shelves, ordering accessories, calling customers when their equipment is ready, pulling parts for large parts orders, assembling smaller equipment, and performing flat tire repairs. 

Job Requirements

  • Friendly attitude - You (and other front counter staff) will be a customer’s first point of contact when they walk in the building or call; we want these people to have a positive experience so being friendly is a must. If you don’t like dealing with people this is not a job for you.
  • General computer literacy  - Must be able to navigate many different manufactures websites.  We use a Program called INFINITY which you will be trained in. Prior knowledge of the program is a plus. Basic, Word and excel knowledge.
  • The ability to lift 50lb - Not a lot of heavy lifting is required but sometimes a customer will need you help loading or unloading a lawnmower.
  • Ability to work Saturdays/ flexible schedule - You will have a set five day schedule, one day will be Saturday. We are closed Sunday so you would be required to work four other days during the week.  Some days you may have to stay 15 minutes or so late if a customer walks in right before we close, which you will be paid for. We are flexible with our employees allowing them to switch days, leave early, come in late, take time when necessary with the expectation that courtesy is reciprocated when we need extra hours.
  • Learn and retain knowledge about a wide variety of equipment - We sell tractors, lawnmower, string trimmers, commercial mowers, chainsaws, generators, snow throwers, pressure washers; eventually you will need to know a lot about all of these machines which we will teach you.
  • Prior experience in retail or power equipment is a plus.
